Save Cacapon Resort State Park

This historic, ecologically important park is in danger of being ruined by massive new development. Concerned citizens — locals and visitors — are banding together to make our voices heard.

We have succeeded in halting the RFP process. We now need to fill out the park survey and sign the new sign-on letter to demand the Governor take a more responsible approach to park development.

Fill Out the WV State Park Survey

Our voices were heard! We had over 1,000 signatures on our petition. Now that we are hearing that the state is not going forward with any of the RFP responses, let’s tell the state what we want for the future of our state parks. A post on the news can be found here.

Sign the NEW Sign-on Letter

We have succeeded in halting the RFP process for this development, and we are now urging the Governor to take a more responsible approach to state park development.

A Park For Everyone

A Beloved Vacation Destination

Cacapon State Park already has it all: 25+ miles of mountain biking trails, a newly renovated lodge, historic cabins, a championship golf course, and a lake beach. The proposed RV and amusement park would detract from and compete with West Virginia’s recent $25 million investment in this beloved place.

A Haven for Rare and Endangered Species

The wood turtle and harperella, two federally listed endangered species, call Cacapon State Park home. Conserving their habitat is not only important for the survival of these unique and beautiful species, but it is also essential for the health of the entire ecosystem.

A History Worth Preserving

As one of the Civilian Conservation Corps parks established during the 1930s, Cacapon Resort State Park embodies the spirit of hard work, perseverance, and environmental stewardship that defined the CCC’s mission. Many original structures stand as rare examples of CCC’s impeccable workmanship, including the old lodge, several bridges, the bathhouse and many cabins. .
